What Can I Take Part In?

ACF PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE SYLLABUS

The ACF follow a syllabus called The Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) which is designed to develop you to your full potential.

During the evenings you spend with your platoons and on selected weekends throughout the year you will have fun learning how to:

Correctly and safely handle weapons, read a map and navigate using a compass, treat an injured person by using First Aid, shoot accurately at targets, prepare yourself and your equipment to live 'in the field' and work as a team.

ADVENTUROUS TRAINING

All cadets have the opportunity to take part in Adventurous Training, all of which is run by qualified adult instructors.

The majority of activities take place during the Summer on our two week Annual Camp. There are other opportunities though on organised weekends.

No cadet has to take part in anything they do not want to do. Parents also have the choice to decide if there are any activities that a Cadet should not do.

But if you want to, why not try climbing, abseiling, canoeing, archery, go-carting, trekking, caving, mountain biking, rafting and many more.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of young people aged 14-25, regardless of gender, background or ability.

It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable activities during their time with the ACF.

Many of the skills you will learn as a cadet will qualify you for parts of the award at three different levels:

Bronze (for those aged 14 and over)

Silver (for those aged 15 and over) and
