Vocational Qualifications

VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

It is possible for cadets and adults to gain recognised civilian qualifications whilst involved with the ACF. These qualifications are delivered through the Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation (CVQO).
Many of the subjects that you are already learning or teaching as part of the cadet APC syllabus may be used toward gaining additional qualifications.

THE CVQO

The CVQO is a registered charity based in Camberley, Surrey, but represented throughout the UK. CVQO provides opportunities for members of all cadet forces to gain internationally recognised vocational qualifications.

The CVQO is dedicated to helping both cadets and instructors of the Cadet Forces to get ahead personally and professionally. The qualifications on offer have been designed to show employers and educators the wide range of skills that young people and adults learn in the Cadet Forces.

They are always developing the qualifications that they are able to offer so for up to date information about any of their qualifications please visit the CVQO website www.cvqo.org

WHAT IS A BTEC?

BTEC stands for Business & Technology Education Council.

If you qualify as a cadet you could do the BTEC First Diploma in Public Services or the First Diploma in Music. They are hands on and practical assessments, not like sitting down in school and doing a timed written exam.

This qualification is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C and it is FREE to cadets.

Most of the qualification is acquired through the APC work that you will already complete during your time in cadets. However, some extra work will need to be completed in your own time, in order to gain the qualification. This extra work covers the parts of the syllabus which aren't covered by the APC syllabus. You have 2 years (from registration) to complete all work for the qualification.
